Elevate Your Leadership
Grow “Vertically” to the Top 10% of Your Leadership Effectiveness
The are two types of leadership growth – HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL.
VERTICAL growth focuses on upgrading the actual operating system of the leader. Elevating a person’s ability to make meaning of their world in more cognitively and emotionally sophisticated ways. It centers on BECOMING BETTER.
90%+ of all leadership development efforts are focused on horizontal growth. But, what is widely needed is what Ryan calls vertical development. In fact, research has found that only 8% of all leaders rise to their highest level of vertical development.
With Ryan’s help, we will explore what vertical development is, identify the different levels of vertical development, and give you direction on how you can elevate to your highest level.

Coaching, Counseling, and the Commitment to Make It Count
It is a simple and deeply challenging truth that no one can lead someone further than they, themselves, have been. Because of this, a leader who strives to achieve lofty expectations – for both self and team – will often choose to invest in the support of a well-qualified helping professional. In the business world, we’ve normalized this as “coaching” even though therapy, counseling or mentoring may be more appropriate resources for a given leader’s specific situation.
As important as it is to choose the right kind of helping relationship, it is more important still to make the most of that relationship. From his experience as a participant in both therapy and coaching relationships, as well as his 15 years coaching leaders at all levels, David will offer practical insights on how to maximize your commitment to becoming the person you want to be and the leader your team deserves.
